In 1985 I went to work for a large Florida Dental Lab. At that time Florida did not have a dental school, so a lot of dentists from the North saw an opportunity and moved South to Florida. Over time those dentists referred to the quality of our work to fellow colleagues in the North. They would bring a case to Florida, take a Peter Dawson course and write off their travel. The Dawson Institute was growing in popularity teaching Centric Occlusion. The dental lab had cultivated several clients in the North and wanted a representative to be the face of the company in the North. Over the 32 years I represented the lab, I expanded our dentist following throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Massachusetts, Virginia, Washington, Kentucky and N. Carolina. I had the privilege during that time to get to know the leaders in the dental profession; Drs. Dawson, Christensen, Strupp, Dixon, Dorfman, Strupp, Rosenthal, Dickerson, Ward and many others. I earned many rewards, promotions and trips over this time. I became sales manager of the company and then in 2017 the lab was sold to a DSO\ and I took early retirement.
From 2017 to 2019 I created a dental student and resident speaking program. With ten dental related companies financial support I created Transitions…Student to Business Owner. I would plan through ASDA, Delta Sigma, Psi Omega, School Exhibitor Days, Dinner n Learns, Lunch and Learns, Tailgates, and Pizza and Learns for the students to enjoy and invite lenders, attorneys, CPA’s and successful dentists to speak and interact with the students and residents about the real world of dentistry and practice ownership.
In 2019 I was asked to join Chris Vandiford, a growing speaker and practice sales broker. Helping match new practice buyers with established retiring dentists. Helping find their Heir Apparent! I have found that meeting thousands of dentists over 32 years. I’ve learned their personalities and who would be a great fit for their staff and patients, whenever they took their license off the wall!
I have found dentistry is a very detailed profession and each dentist has their own way of practicing their profession, which lends to practice ownership!
I enjoy being with my family and grandchildren and a little golf and biking. I also have enjoyed volunteering for 16 years with Make-A-Wish & recently A Kid Again.
